Keeping that in mind, remember when Katara learned to blood bend? (Well, more like forced to learn.) She was able to stop Hama’s (the old lady) blood bending, and then turned and used it on her.

If Katara taught Aang how to blood bend, (doubt it, but still possible) it still wouldn’t have made a difference for when he went up against Yakone since they were fighting in the middle of the day. Now let’s say that Katara learned how to blood bend without the use of the moon and then taught Aang how to do the same, wouldn’t Aang have had an easier time fighting Yakone and not have to rely on his Avatar State to fight him? Making it just as easy to shrug it off as Amon did?

i know a lot of people already think that he’s either a very strong chi blocker or energy bender.

I personally think that he’s both an energy bender and a blood bender. Just because i don’t see how chi blocking would have helped him so far, especially when he was fighting Tarlok. Cause from what i’ve seen, chi blocking is through hand-to-hand combat, and Amon wasn’t touching Tarlok when Tarlok was trying to blood bend. And if Amon was able to use chi blocking to somehow stop Tarlok’s blood bending without even touching him, then he could just as easily stop any other bender from bending.

These are my thoughts. I may be wrong and i may be right. If you think my theory is wrong, don’t be afraid to tell me. :)
